Go Papa!

On Wednesday Julianne went to her 2nd volleyball game (the first was 2nd-cousin Katie's this fall)!  Grandma L and I took Julianne to watch Grandpa play in Hutch.  She did pretty well considering she's a "wiggler" - she sat still for about 2 points and then was on the move.  She was waving and yelling "papa" and pretty soon was running up and down the side lines.  There was a baby there from the other team and she had to go over and say hi to her a few times too.  We managed to keep her and the other balls off the court while they were playing so I'd say the volleyball match was a success!  I think Grandpa had fun having his biggest fan there too!

Don't let your babies grow up to... ride snowmobiles...

This week we attended the wake of our 23 year old neighbor who died in a snowmobile accident.  It was the saddest thing I have done in a long time and these accidents are happening too often to too many young people.  Now that I have my own child, the death of these young people get to me a lot more.  I can't imagine what the parents are going through.  You have so many hopes and dreams for your children and you never think they'll die so young.  I'm sure his parents has visions of him 30 years from now; who he would have been married to, his children, if he'd still be farming with his dad and grandpa, how his life had turned out...  Those few hours when they didn't know where he was, must have been so horrible for everyone - and then getting the call that they had found him and he had died... So sad... It just goes to show how precious life can be and how it can be gone in an instant.  I think it also is sticking with me because Nick saw him riding snowmobile from our window the night he died.  He probably was one of the last people to see him.  He hit a drainage ditch not to far from where Nick saw him on that night.  We also saw the ambulance lights but at that time didn't know what had happened.  It's just so sad and something I hope I never have to go though.

New Year's Resolution...

What's my new years resolution??  You guessed it - to create a blog!!  I love reading blogs on other families and think it's a great way to know what's happening in friend's and family's lives.  My goal is to post at least once per week... we'll see how that goes - but it's good to have a goal, right?  Enjoy.....

Our pride and joy - Julianne Nicole - on Christmas Eve.  Julianne is now almost 20 months old.  I had to acutally stop for a minute and count the months... All I know is she is growing too fast and will be 2 in a few short months!  She is a fun little girl (most of the time - exept when she's sick or tired (I know, I know... she gets that from me!)) and usually has lots of giggles and smiles for us.  The sound of her giggle never gets old and it still makes me melt inside!  She's very outgoing and loves to be around people and animals.  Becoming a parent is the hardest and most rewarding thing I'll every do!  Love ya Jules!!
