Jack-o-lantern

This weekend we carved our jack-o-lantern!

Cleaning out the "guts" - ewwww gross!

Julianne carefully inspecting her daddy's carving skills

Julianne getting the last of the yucky stuff out

The finished product!  We let Julianne pick what she wanted and she choose a frowny face!

oooooo - scary!!

Nelson Farm

Last weekend Nick's cousins, Katie and Sydney Macht, came over and we took the kids to the Nelson Farm.  Thanks for a fun day Katie and Syndey!

Even Will got to go, although he pretty much stayed in the stroller the entire time!

Crawling through the tunnels

Katie and Julianne in the Derby car.  Lots of fun going down the hill... but lots of work going up!

Baby calf - just 37 days old!

Ready for the Clip-Clop Trolley ride.  Julianne's favorite part was when one of the horses took a poop during our ride.  Kids!

It was a chilly day, so we didn't stay too long at Nelson Farm. When we got back to our house, Katie and Sydney helped Julianne paint some pumpkins.

Julianne concentrating... She painted this pumpkin all by herself!

Katie helped Julianne paint another one

 The finished masterpieces!

Leaves

A couple weekends ago, Julianne and I took advantage of some warmer fall temps during Will's naptime and headed outside to have fun in the leaves! Julianne could have spent hours playing in the leaf piles.  She is developing quite the imagination - first her pile was a tunnel that we had to walk through, then it was a pool she was jumping in and then it was her princess house and we had to take turns placing crowns on our heads!  Now, if only someone would come pick up all the piles of leaves on our lawn...

Two Months!

Our little man is TWO MONTHS!!!

Another month has gone by and William is now 2 months (and 6 days - I'm a little late - oops) old!  At his check-up he weighed 14 lbs 12 oz and was 24 1/2 inches long - in the 93rd and 94th percentile!  He is definitely my "big guy" and my arms and back notice!

He is a good eater (he eats 6 five ounce bottles per day) and has recently started sleeping fairly well at night.  He's usually always asleep by 8pm, will wake up around 2 or 3, eat, and then go back to sleep until 5 or so.  That I can handle!!!  However he doesn't sleep very well during the day.  Lately he has been taking several smaller cat-naps during the day.

He now smiles, especially at mommy, and coos.  Those baby smiles can warm anyone's heart!  He also is starting to look at and focus on objects.  He will lay under his playmat and look at his toys for a while and loves to look out the window.  However, he still isn't very content.  He won't sit for very long by himself without fussing.  He can bring his hands together and I find his thumb in his mouth often!

I have a feeling he will have quite the personality, probably one like his big sister.  He has a very loud cry and if he wants something, he wants it now and will let you know.  He's very active and always has his arms and legs moving.  I'm guessing we'll never have a dull moment in our house as these two munchkins grow up!

Julianne LOVES being a big sister!  She is quite the little mommy.  I often find her repeating what I say to William - "Hi buddy" "What's wrong baby?" "Can you smile?" "What are we going to do with that baby?" She loves to hold him, help me feed him and change his diaper and show off "her" baby to everyone.  It has been her job to bring me the burp rag when I feed William.  So far there has been no jealousy - only love.  :-)  It has been a great lesson in patience for her since I can't always get her want she wants right away.  I've been very proud of what a great big sister she has been!

Welcome Henry!

So, this is the craziest thing that's happened to our family in a while... My sister ended up having her baby last weekend...... IN FARGO!  They drove up from Lakeville on Friday night for the wedding and while Alissa was feeling a little crampy, her doc said it was probably nothing to worry about and told her it was okay to go.  Well, late that night the contractors got a lot stronger and closer together so they headed to the hospital in Fargo and Henry was born at 9:31 on Saturday morning!  We're so glad everything went okay and Henry is doing well.  He was 2 1/2 weeks early, but is doing just great!!

Julianne and Alissa with Henry Peter Weckman.  Born 10.6.12 - 7 lbs 1 ounces, 20 1/2 inches long

The "boys."  I have a feeling they could be trouble when they get older!

Grandma and Grandpa with their boys -
it will be a new adventure for them after having 3 girls!

Congrats to Josh and Alissa!!!

Trip to Fargo

Last weekend the kids and I made a trip to Fargo for the weekend for my cousin's wedding.  Nick is in the middle of harvest so wasn't able to go along with us.  Luckily I was able to catch a ride with my parents and got a hotel room next to theirs - I don't think I would have survived this trip alone without their help!!!!

We left on Friday so that night Julianne could play in the pool.  Our hotel, The Ramada Inn, had a really nice pool area with a small wading pool with a water fountain, a hot tub, a fun water slide and a bigger pool.  Julianne had lots of fun there!  Not to mention they had a bar right in the pool area so mommy had lots of fun too!!  Hey - when you're traveling with two kids, a Coors Light is a must!

Saturday AM we met up with my cousin Nicky and her son Corey.  They were in town from Colorado and since the kids don't get to see each other very often, we arranged for a play date at the Dinosaur Playland at the mall.  Even though Corey and Julianne were quite shy with each other, I had fun catching up with my Colorado relatives!

That afternoon we went to the wedding, made a quick stop at the hospital (see next post!) and headed to the reception.  Congrats to Adam and Abbey - I am bummed I didn't get a picture of them!

All dressed up for the wedding!

And the Grandparents of the Year Award goes to..... Grandma L and Grandpa Steve!!!  Thanks for putting up with me (and my lingering hormones!!!) and my kids all weekend - I couldn't have done it without you!
