Winstock

After a 2 year absence, we made it back to Winstock in 2011!  For those of you who don't know, Winstock is a country music festival in Winsted, MN - only about 40 miles from our house!  We had a great time, even though I had a nasty cold and laryngitis.  The weather wasn't too bad considering last year it turned into Mudd-Stock because there was a ton of rain and the few years before that I think we set a record cold temp!  Friday it rained a little, but we stuck it out - it was kinda nice that the rain cleared out some of the people at the concert.  However Saturday was really nice and I even managed to get a little sunburn. The shows were great as usual; our favorites were Montgomery Gentry and Jason Aldean.

Happy 30th Birthday Kurt!  I imagine this will be one birthday he won't forget - or wait, maybe he doesn't remember it!

We actually sat in chairs rather than hang out by the beer tent for at least one show!

Phase 2 - Scraping & spraying the ceiling and touching up the walls and painting is done!  I hope I like this color green - it's a little "brighter" than I was thinking it would be...

Day of Destruction

Our Kitchen Remodel project has begun!  The first step was to tear out the old cupboards.   I am SOOOOOO glad my hubby is so strong and man-ly; he was able to take out all the cupboards basically by himself.  I did put on a good impression of SHE-MAN and help him move some of the cabinets out - I have the scratches and bruises to prove it!

Nick thought this was going to be a fairly easy project - BUT HE WAS WRONG!!!  It took him a few days, but he finally got it done.  A few of the cupboards were wedged really tight and wouldn't come out - so he got out the saw and cut them in half.  Ha!  Showed them!

The before picture...

He-Man at work

Nick hard at work - after this picture he stated if I took anymore pictures of him, he was going to throw my camera out the window.... What??

Good thing our deck was right off the dining room - we put all the cupboards out there until Nick had more time to haul them away.  The entire deck was covered!  I was afraid (or hoping!!) the deck would collapse; we need a new one of those too - maybe next year....

ALL DUN! On to Phase 2...

Memorial Day weekend fun

For having no plans, our Memorial Day weekend sure was busy!  Saturday we made a last minute decision to head to the cabin to put the dock in.  The Barden's also came up from Mankato to help.  It's so nice this year that Shay and Julianne can basically entertain themselves.  They just need us to break up a fight once and a while but for the most part get along so well - I hope that continues as they get older.  We also put the pontoon in and took a short cruise around the lake.  Next on the agenda is pontoon-driving lessons for me!  Then Sheri and I can cruise in the pontoon if the guys aren't able to make it out to the lake. Saturday night Nick did some fishing and caught 5 walleye's off the end of the dock.  They were yummy!!!  Big Kandi isn't usually a very good fishing lake so this was extra fun for Nick!

J & S in the pontoon - Don't worry - the pontoon was docked.  If we were on the water, the little girls would have to wear their life jackets. :-)
I know, I know - I'm such a MOM...

Sunday we headed to Mankato to the Barden's; their neighbors were having a bean bag tournament party.  They lived right across the street from the Barden's so we could run and check on the girls and their babysitter inbetween bean bag games.  Of course Derek's team won, but Ash, Nick and I gave his team a run for his money!  It was a fun night out - thanks to the Bardens for letting us crash their party!

Monday was a day of rest...
